WAVERLEY • SURREY • 2026 HOUSEHOLD WASTE DESK

Check Your Waste Week Before You Put the Bin Out

Waverley households use property-specific collection dates plus Week 1 and Week 2 printable calendars. Check your address before downloading a calendar or assuming which colour bin is due.

This resident guide combines rubbish, recycling, weekly food waste, subscribed garden waste, missed collections, bank holidays, extra-capacity options and official contact routes in one scan-first page.

Current Summer Collection Advice

Checked during the 31 July 2026 audit: Waverley was advising that waste crews were starting rounds earlier during prolonged warm weather.

TEMPORARY

Crews may arrive earlier

Do not rely on the time your road is normally visited during the current hot-weather arrangement.

SAFEST ACTION

Put bins out the evening before

Waverley’s current warm-weather advice recommends presenting containers as early as possible, preferably the evening before.

NORMAL STANDARD

6am

Outside temporary disruption periods, Waverley’s missed-bin and garden-waste guidance uses 6am as the normal collection-day deadline.

Do not turn a heatwave notice into a permanent rule

Check the live Council collection page before your next bin day. When the temporary notice is removed, follow the normal instructions published for your service.

Find the Exact Collection Day for Your Property

Waverley includes Farnham, Godalming, Haslemere, Cranleigh and many villages. A borough name or postcode district alone is not enough to identify the right Week 1 or Week 2 calendar.

Open Waverley’s collection checker

Use the Council tool rather than an old screenshot, Facebook post or neighbouring property’s calendar.

Enter your postcode

The Council lookup asks residents to start with the postcode.

Select the exact address

Choose your own property from the list before reading collection details.

Open the collection details

Check rubbish, mixed recycling, food waste and garden waste separately.

Use the returned date to identify your PDF week

Match your next collection to the official Week 1 or Week 2 calendar instead of guessing.

Find official collection dates

What Is My Waverley Collection This Week?

The useful answer depends on your property. Black rubbish and blue recycling normally alternate fortnightly while food waste is normally collected weekly.

Food waste does not wait for the next black-bin week

The food-waste service normally operates weekly, so check and present the caddy even when your large wheelie-bin colour changes.

2026 Collection Calendar PDF: How to Choose the Correct One

Waverley publishes two general household calendars and two garden-waste calendars. The important task is identifying which one belongs to your property.

HOUSEHOLD

Week 1

Use only where your address lookup matches the Week 1 collection pattern.

Open 2026 Week 1 PDF
HOUSEHOLD

Week 2

Use only where your property follows the second official collection sequence.

Open 2026 Week 2 PDF
GARDEN

Garden Week 1

Relevant only to subscribed garden-waste properties following Garden Week 1.

Open garden Week 1 PDF
GARDEN

Garden Week 2

Use only after the next garden date returned for your property matches this calendar.

Open garden Week 2 PDF

Fast way to work out Week 1 or Week 2

Find your next rubbish date

Use the official address checker.

Open Week 1

Check whether that next rubbish date is shown in the correct black-bin sequence.

If it does not match, check Week 2

Do not save either calendar until the dates line up with your property result.

Repeat separately for garden waste

Your garden Week 1/2 identification should come from the next subscribed garden date.

Christmas dates inside the PDF need another check

Waverley’s 2026 printable calendars flag selected Christmas and New Year dates as subject to change and direct residents back to the Council website.

Normal Household Collection Schedule

Service Normal frequency Container What residents need to remember
General rubbish Every two weeks Black wheelie bin Normally alternates with the blue recycling bin.
Mixed recycling Every two weeks Blue wheelie bin Normally uses the opposite week to black rubbish.
Food waste Weekly Outdoor food caddy / communal food service Present it every scheduled week.
Garden waste Fortnightly 240L brown bin Paid subscription with a short Christmas/New Year break.

Missed Collection: What to Check and When to Report It

Waverley’s current waste-reporting guidance says a missed collection should be reported within three days of the collection day.

CHECK FIRST
  • Was the container actually due?
  • Did you use your exact address result?
  • Was it presented by the required time?
  • Was it at the normal collection point?
  • Was the lid closed?
  • Was it free from obvious contamination?
  • Was the collection vehicle able to access the road?
  • Is there a Council disruption notice?
REPORT WINDOW

Do not wait for the next fortnight

Submit a genuine missed-bin report while the Council’s current three-day reporting window is still open.

Report a missed collection
What happens after reporting?

Waverley’s reporting page says most reported waste problems are resolved within three working days. Treat this as the Council’s service guidance rather than a guaranteed collection appointment.

Normal 6am versus current early-start advice

The normal missed-bin rule uses 6am. During the current summer early-start notice, putting bins out the evening before reduces the risk of missing an earlier crew.

Why Was My Bin Left Behind?

Bin went out too late Normal presentation deadline is 6am.
Current complication Hot-weather rounds may start earlier.
Action While the notice remains, present the evening before.
Wrong large-bin week Black and blue were mixed up.
Why They normally alternate fortnightly.
Action Recheck the property result and Week 1/2 PDF.
Wrong waste inside Recycling or garden bin is contaminated.
Why Incorrect material can stop compliant processing.
Action Remove the unsuitable waste before presenting again.
Garden bin not collected Subscription or date may be wrong.
Check Subscription, Week 1/2 and festive break.
Action Verify all three before reporting it missed.
Several neighbours also missed Access or route disruption may be involved.
Check Look for a Council update.
Action Avoid duplicate reports until you confirm whether it is a wider issue.

Bank Holiday Collection Dates and Times

Do not apply an automatic “one day later” rule. Waverley can operate normal household collections on a bank holiday.

CONFIRMED 2026 EXAMPLE

Monday 25 May

Waverley confirmed rubbish, recycling, food waste and garden-waste collections operated as normal on the late May Bank Holiday.

31 AUGUST 2026

Recheck before changing your day

A specific Summer Bank Holiday household revision was not confirmed in the previous live audit, so do not invent a delay.

CHRISTMAS / NEW YEAR

Printable calendars warn you

Selected festive dates in the official 2026 PDFs are marked as subject to change.

What time should bins go out on a bank holiday?

If the Council says collection is normal

Follow the ordinary presentation rule published for that service. The normal household standard is by 6am; temporary operational notices can require earlier presentation.

Council offices can be closed while bin crews still work

Do not assume a closed customer-service line means collections are cancelled.

You may share a garden bin

Waverley allows neighbours to share a subscribed brown bin, provided it is registered to one property.

Check garden subscription

Can You Pay for an Extra Bin Collection?

“Extra collection” can mean several different things. Waverley treats ordinary rubbish, garden waste, bulky items and small electricals as separate services.

Your problem Available? Best route
Second ordinary black bin every collection Not the standard service Waverley says one rubbish bin is collected per household.
One-off extra black-bin collection No standard paid ad-hoc service found Use capacity, recycling, bulky-waste or CRC options instead.
Larger rubbish capacity For qualifying households Six or more household members and recycling conditions apply.
Second garden bin Yes Every brown bin needs its own subscription.
Sofa, mattress or large appliance Paid service Book bulky-waste collection.
Small electricals, batteries or textiles Free booked service Use the separate Biffa small-item collection.

Who can request a larger black rubbish bin?

HOUSEHOLD SIZE

Six or more residents

Waverley’s larger-bin guidance is aimed at households where six or more people live permanently at the property.

RECYCLE FIRST

Use available recycling capacity

Applicants must already be recycling as much household material as reasonably possible.

ASSESSMENT

Evidence may be requested

The Council may assess the household’s waste and ask for evidence about household occupancy.

360L rubbish-bin price conflict

In the previous live audit, Waverley’s current order page showed two different larger-black-bin figures: £73.70 in one section and £70.80 in another. Do not hard-code either as the definitive payable amount—check the amount shown in the official ordering process.

2026 Simpler Recycling Changes

PLASTIC

Assisted Collection for Residents Who Cannot Move Their Bins

Waverley can provide an assisted collection where a resident cannot safely move the containers because of mobility, disability or medical difficulties and nobody in the household can provide the required help.

WHO

Mobility, disability and medical issues can be relevant.

  • Check your exact address rather than the town name.
  • Identify the correct Week 1 or Week 2 calendar.
  • Confirm whether black rubbish, blue recycling, food or garden waste is due.
  • Remember food waste normally goes every week.
  • Use 6am as the normal presentation deadline unless a live notice says otherwise.

  • Keep recycling loose, clean and suitable for the blue bin.
  • Check garden subscription status before reporting a brown bin missed.
  • Match garden dates to Garden Week 1 or Garden Week 2.
  • Report a genuine missed collection within the current three-day window.
  • Check each bank holiday individually.
  • Recheck festive dates even when they appear on the 2026 PDF.

  • Use larger-bin eligibility, an extra garden subscription, bulky collection or a recycling centre for excess waste.
