Bank Holiday and Easter Collection Rules in 2026
The official 2026 PDFs state that collections do not normally change on bank holidays, with three standing exceptions: Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The downloadable calendar starts with December 2025 and runs through November 2026. Do not invent December 2026 collection dates from its alternating pattern.
The PDFs state that collections between 25 December 2025 and 10 January 2026 ran one to three days later than usual, including Saturdays. Normal collections resumed Monday 12 January 2026.

Reigate & Banstead allows an ordinary plastic liner or bag when it is used specifically to contain food waste. Newspaper can also be used.
Seal food waste in a bag, fold the caddy handle forward to lock the lid and, where practical, place the caddy on its side inside the paper box.
Do not bag mixed recycling. Rinse containers, squash cartons and scrunch foil to approximately tennis-ball size or larger.
Recycling Changes from 31 March 2026
Reigate & Banstead’s service already used separate food, paper/card, mixed recycling and refuse streams, but the mixed-recycling list expanded from 31 March 2026.

Reigate & Banstead Missed Bin: Check These Rules First
A container still outside in the morning is not automatically missed. The normal report route opens after 3pm.
Confirm the container was due
Use your exact property calendar rather than assuming the collection from the week colour alone.
Confirm it was out before 6am
The normal missed-bin service requires correct presentation at the boundary.
Wait until after 3pm
The council says the crew may come back earlier in the day.
Check whether the whole road was missed
If the whole road was missed, do not submit a normal individual report. Leave containers out for the next-working-day return.
Check for contamination

Standard policy
The standard domestic refuse service is based on one council-issued bin with the lid closed.
Do not put items weighing more than 15kg, rubble, soil, stones or domestic DIY waste in the normal refuse bin.

Some replacement containers are free, while wheelie bins and additional refuse capacity have published charges.

For a brand-new property, the council says the developer is responsible for providing the required containers.
Flats and Communal Bin Collections
Flats can use communal containers, individual black paper boxes or approved black-bag arrangements rather than the standard house setup.

Use only the communal container identified for mixed recycling.
Communal refuse

The council says almost all borough properties now have access to the standard four waste streams.

Pedestrians not accepted
Earlswood does not permit residents to bring waste onto the site on foot.

Earlswood accepts normal CRC materials plus items including bottle tops, glass, plasterboard, hardcore/rubble, plastic bottles and tyres. Current whole or part vehicle tyres are charged at £5 each; bicycle tyres and inner tubes are free.
Earlswood CRC does not accept business waste.
