Warwickshire Bin Collection: Find Your Council, Day & Missed-Bin Route

Warwickshire does not have one county-wide household bin collection calendar. Your rubbish and recycling are collected by the district or borough council that serves your address, while Warwickshire County Council runs the county’s household waste recycling centres.

Start by identifying whether you live in North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Rugby, Stratford-on-Avon or Warwick District. Then use that council’s postcode or address checker for the exact collection date.

Warwickshire Bin Collection: Quick Answer

Warwickshire County Council does not collect household bins. The five district and borough councils manage kerbside rubbish and recycling collections. This means bin colours, frequencies, food-waste arrangements, presentation times and missed-bin procedures can change when you cross a council boundary.

Warwickshire County Council instead manages the county’s nine Household Waste Recycling Centres. Use your local district or borough council for bin days and missed bins; use Warwickshire County Council for recycling-centre visits.

HWRC network 9 Warwickshire sites
Do not use one Warwickshire timetable for the whole county. Stratford and Warwick District use the joint 123+ system, Rugby has its own black/blue-lid and food-waste arrangement, North Warwickshire uses its own black/red-lid service, and Nuneaton and Bedworth runs a separate local system.

Which Council Collects Your Warwickshire Bins?

The first step is identifying the correct local collection authority. A Warwickshire postal address does not automatically tell you which council’s bin system applies.

North Warwickshire

Atherstone, Coleshill and other properties inside North Warwickshire Borough Council use the borough’s own collection calendar.

North Warwickshire bin dates

Nuneaton & Bedworth

Use the borough council’s street-based collection-day directory for Nuneaton and Bedworth addresses.

Rugby

Enter the postcode and select the exact Rugby Borough property to see each household waste stream.

Stratford-on-Avon

Use the Stratford address lookup for the joint South Warwickshire 123+ collection service.

Warwick District

Warwick District provides postcode and street searches plus a downloadable six-month waste calendar.

How to Check Your Exact Warwickshire Bin Collection Day

  1. Identify your district or borough.
Use the authority that collects waste from your property, not Warwickshire County Council.
  2. Open that council’s live bin calendar.
Prefer the current address or postcode checker over a saved screenshot or an old printed calendar.
  3. Select the exact property.
Flats, communal properties and nearby streets can follow different rounds.
  4. Read each waste stream separately.
Refuse, recycling, food waste and subscribed garden waste can operate on different frequencies.
  5. Recheck after a council service change.
Several Warwickshire authorities introduced or changed food-waste and recycling services during 2026.
Best approach: bookmark the local council checker rather than trying to remember a county-wide “bin week”. There is no single Warwickshire-wide sequence.

Warwickshire Bin Collection Schedules Compared

The county’s councils do not all use the same collection model. The table below shows the important current differences without pretending that one timetable covers every Warwickshire household.

Warwickshire household collection systems by local authority
Council area Current core arrangement Food waste Collection lookup
North Warwickshire Black refuse and red-lidded recycling normally alternate fortnightly. Separate weekly food-waste service introduced in July 2026. Postcode/address calendar.
Nuneaton & Bedworth Separate black refuse and brown-lidded recycling, with local green-bin arrangements. Follow the current service assigned to the property. Street-based collection directory.
Rugby Black rubbish and blue-lid recycling normally alternate fortnightly. Weekly separate food-waste collection. Postcode + address lookup.
Stratford-on-Avon 123+: weekly food, fortnightly dry recycling, three-weekly non-recyclable waste. Weekly. Exact-address lookup.
Warwick District Joint 123+ system with Stratford: weekly food, fortnightly recycling, three-weekly refuse. Weekly. Postcode/street lookup and downloadable calendar.
Frequency is not your exact date. Even when a council uses a regular fortnightly or three-weekly pattern, use the property calendar to find the actual collection date.

North Warwickshire Bin Collection

North Warwickshire Borough Council reorganised most collection rounds from 23 February 2026. Black non-recyclable bins and red-lidded recycling bins now operate on alternating fortnightly weeks for the standard service.

The council also launched a separate weekly food-waste service on 6 July 2026. Food waste is collected on the same day as the property’s existing refuse or recycling service, using a separate vehicle.

Black bin

Non-recyclable household rubbish. Standard collection is fortnightly.

Red-lidded bin

Dry household recycling. Standard collection is fortnightly.

Food waste

Separate food-waste collection runs weekly under the service introduced in July 2026.

Standard bins should normally be presented by 6:30am. North Warwickshire’s missed-bin guidance says the council does not normally return for a genuine missed household bin; after reporting it, the bin is emptied on the next scheduled date and qualifying additional side waste can then be collected.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Bin Collection

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council runs its own collection calendar. The official bin-day directory asks residents to search by street name rather than postcode.

The borough’s current household guide identifies a black bin for non-recyclable waste, a brown-lidded recycling bin and a green-lidded garden-waste service. Current council guidance says ordinary bins should be at the kerbside by 7am, although temporary heatwave instructions can require earlier presentation.

Do not copy a Nuneaton collection pattern into another Warwickshire district. Container colours and collection arrangements differ substantially between councils.

Rugby Bin Collection

Rugby Borough Council uses a postcode-and-address checker. Standard black refuse and blue-lid recycling bins normally operate on alternating fortnightly collections.

Rugby’s weekly food-waste service launched in summer 2026. The food caddy can have a different collection day from the property’s main wheelie bins, so residents should read each stream separately in the online checker.

Black bin

General non-recyclable household waste, normally collected every two weeks.

Blue-lid bin

Main dry household recycling bin, normally collected every two weeks.

Food caddy

Separate household food-waste collection every week.

Bins should normally be ready from 6am. Rugby says residents should wait until after 3:30pm before reporting a missed collection and must report within two days of the due date, excluding weekends.

Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District: The 123+ System

Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Warwick District Council share the South Warwickshire 123+ waste system. The name describes the household collection rhythm.

1 — Food waste

Collected every week using the approved food-waste container.

2 — Dry recycling

Blue-lidded dry-recycling bins are normally emptied every two weeks.

3 — Household refuse

Grey non-recyclable household waste is normally collected every three weeks.

+ — Garden waste

Optional chargeable garden-waste service normally runs fortnightly.

Stratford asks residents to report a qualifying missed collection within two working days after checking that the bin was out by 6am. Warwick District also requires the bin to have been out by 6am and allows missed collections to be reported after 4pm on collection day and within two working days.

For a town-specific walkthrough, see our Stratford-upon-Avon bin collection guide.

Warwickshire Missed Bin: Use the Correct Council Route

There is no Warwickshire County Council missed-bin form for ordinary household collections. Report the problem to the district or borough council that empties the property’s bins.

Missed-bin rules vary across Warwickshire
Council Useful current rule What to do
North Warwickshire Standard presentation by 6:30am. Report a genuine miss; council normally collects on the next scheduled day rather than making an immediate return.
Nuneaton & Bedworth Standard published presentation time is 7am. Use the borough council’s missed-bin service after checking the collection date and current notices.
Rugby Wait until after 3:30pm; report within two days excluding weekends. Accepted genuine misses are targeted for return within three working days.
Stratford-on-Avon Report within two working days; bin should have been out by 6am. Leave the bin at the normal collection point if a return is arranged.
Warwick District Report after 4pm and within two working days; bin should have been out by 6am. The council aims to return within two working days.

Before reporting any Warwickshire missed bin

  1. Confirm the bin was actually due.
    Recheck the exact property calendar.
  2. Check the presentation time.
    Councils use different morning deadlines.
  3. Check contamination and weight.
Wrong materials, excessive weight or an open lid can prevent collection.
  4. Check access.
Parked vehicles, roadworks, locked gates, snow or another obstruction can stop the crew.
  5. Use the correct council report form.
Do not submit a missed-bin report to Warwickshire County Council.

Warwickshire Bin Collections on Bank Holidays

Bank-holiday arrangements depend on the local council. Do not assume every Warwickshire collection moves by one day after a public holiday.

North Warwickshire

Current 2026 council notices for ordinary spring and August bank holidays say bin collections remain as normal.

Warwick District

Collections are normally made as usual on bank holidays except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Christmas & New Year

Festive arrangements are the period most likely to alter normal dates. Check the live local calendar rather than reusing a previous year’s timetable.

Safest county-wide rule: check your own council’s collection calendar before every Christmas and New Year period and whenever a service alert is published.

Garden Waste Services Across Warwickshire

Garden-waste collection is managed by the district or borough council rather than Warwickshire County Council. Subscription prices, operating years and winter breaks differ.

North Warwickshire

The current annual garden-waste subscription costs £45 per green bin, covering 1 April to 31 March. Collections are fortnightly apart from the stated festive/winter break.

Nuneaton & Bedworth

The current 2026/27 green-bin subscription costs £45 per bin. The service year runs from February to January.

Rugby

Rugby’s current 2026/27 garden-waste subscription costs £46 per bin and is normally collected every fortnight with a Christmas/New Year suspension.

Garden-waste prices and subscription periods are council-specific. Do not purchase a permit from a neighbouring Warwickshire authority.

Bulky Waste in Warwickshire

Large-item kerbside collections are also run by the district or borough councils. Warwickshire County Council directs residents to the appropriate local authority for chargeable bulky-waste collection.

Council bulky collection

Use the local district or borough service for furniture, mattresses, white goods and other eligible household items that cannot fit in a normal bin.

Recycling-centre alternative

Many suitable household items can instead be taken to a Warwickshire Household Waste Recycling Centre, subject to site rules and vehicle restrictions.

North Warwickshire, for example, currently charges £40 for up to five eligible bulky items, with additional items charged separately up to the council’s stated limit. Other Warwickshire authorities have their own prices.

Warwickshire Household Waste Recycling Centres

Warwickshire County Council operates nine household waste recycling centres. From 20 July 2026, the county introduced a hybrid booking system, so whether a slot is required depends on the site and day of visit.

How do I find my Warwickshire bin collection day?

First identify the district or borough council serving your property, then use that council’s postcode, street or address-based collection calendar.

No. The five local collection authorities run different systems and property-specific rounds, so there is no single county-wide household bin calendar.

Report a missed household collection to the district or borough council responsible for the property. Do not use Warwickshire County Council for ordinary missed-bin reports.

Do Warwickshire bin collections change on bank holidays?

Rules differ by local authority. Some councils collect normally on ordinary bank holidays, while Christmas and New Year are more likely to cause changes. Check the live local calendar.

What is the 123+ bin system?

Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District use the joint 123+ system: food waste every week, dry recycling every two weeks, non-recyclable household waste every three weeks, plus an optional fortnightly garden-waste service.

How many household recycling centres are in Warwickshire?

Warwickshire County Council currently operates nine Household Waste Recycling Centres across the county.

Do Warwickshire recycling centres need booking?

It depends on the site and day. Warwickshire introduced a hybrid booking system in July 2026, with booking required at selected centres and on selected days.

Best Next Step: Identify Your Warwickshire Collection Council

Do not start with a county-wide timetable. First identify whether the property is in North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Rugby, Stratford-on-Avon or Warwick District.

Then open that council’s live collection checker, select the exact address and follow its local presentation, missed-bin and bank-holiday rules. Use Warwickshire County Council separately for recycling-centre visits.
