Telford Bin Collection Calendar: Find Your Date, Day & Correct Bin

There is no single Telford collection date that works for every home. Use Telford & Wrekin Council’s official Bin Day Finder, enter your postcode, select the exact property and check which container is due.

The same official service lets you download your current 2026/27 rubbish and recycling calendar and sign up for weekly reminder emails.

Telford Bin Collection: Quick Answer

Enter your postcode in the official Telford & Wrekin Bin Day Finder and choose your exact address. It shows your next collection, scheduled changes and the containers due for that property. You can also download the current recycling and waste calendar.

Under normal conditions, bins, bags and caddies should be at the public footpath or roadside nearest the edge of the property by 7am on the scheduled day, or no earlier than the evening before.

How to Find Your Telford Bin Collection Date

Searches such as “Telford bin collection today”, “Telford bin collection tomorrow” and “what bin is it this week?” all have the same safest answer: check the exact property rather than copying a neighbour’s timetable.

  1. Open the official Bin Day Finder.
Use the council-linked address tool rather than an old calendar screenshot.
  2. Enter the property’s full postcode.
Use the postcode belonging to the actual collection address.
  3. Select the exact house or flat.
Do not select a nearby property just to obtain a date.
  4. Read the collection date and container together.
Record both pieces of information, for example “purple top bin — Tuesday”.
  5. Check scheduled changes.
The finder can reflect revised collection arrangements, while the council’s holiday page explains borough-wide changes.
  6. Save the calendar or activate reminders.
This reduces the need to repeat the search every week.
Better than watching the neighbours: save the official property calendar to your phone and use the weekly reminder service. A nearby street can follow a different round.

Telford Bin Collection Calendar 2026/27

Telford & Wrekin’s Bin Day Finder provides a downloadable recycling and waste collection calendar for the selected property. This is more reliable than publishing one fixed Telford-wide calendar because collection dates are address-specific.

Phone

Save a digital copy

Download the property calendar and keep it with your household documents or save it where everyone can access it.

Home

Print the calendar

A printed copy near the kitchen, back door or bin-storage area makes alternating collections easier to follow.

Freshness

Recheck changes

Bank holidays, severe weather or operational disruption can temporarily override the normal pattern.

Do not use an old 2025 calendar to predict a 2026/27 collection. Generate the current calendar for the exact property.

Telford Bin Colours, Bags and Food Caddies

Telford & Wrekin uses several containers rather than one mixed recycling bin. The colour or container type matters because paper and card are collected separately from mixed container recycling.

Purple top

Mixed recycling

Use for accepted glass bottles and jars, cans, aerosols, foil, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays.

Blue bag

Paper & cardboard

Use for cardboard, catalogues, magazines, newspapers, junk mail and similar accepted paper.

Red top

General rubbish

Use for household waste that cannot be recycled through the available recycling containers.

Green

Garden waste

Use for accepted garden material such as grass cuttings, leaves, hedge clippings and small branches.

Food caddy

Food waste

The outdoor food caddy is collected weekly on the scheduled collection day.

Purple top bin: what changed in 2026?

From 1 April 2026, Telford & Wrekin Council says empty food and liquid cartons can also go in the purple top bin. Recycling should be rinsed where appropriate and placed loose in the bin.

Keep paper and cardboard separate. Do not put the blue bag itself, paper or cardboard inside the purple top bin. Those materials use the separate blue-bag stream.

What Time Should Telford Bins Be Put Out?

For the normal collection service, place bins and containers on the public footpath or roadside nearest the edge of the property by 7am on the scheduled collection day. The council says they should not be put out earlier than the evening before.

By 7am

Do not wait for the collection vehicle to appear. Route order can vary.

Close bin lids

Bins should not be overloaded and lids need to close correctly for normal collection.

Correct location

Use the collection point nearest the edge of the property unless an assisted collection arrangement applies.

After collection, the council asks householders to return their containers to the property as soon as possible and within 24 hours of the collection being completed.

Telford Bin Not Collected? Check These Things First

A container still being full does not automatically mean the council recorded a missed collection. Check the scheduled date and presentation rules before reporting it.

  1. Check your exact address calendar.
Confirm that the container was due on that day.
  2. Confirm it was presented by 7am.
If it was put out after the crew had passed, the normal missed-bin process may not apply.
  3. Check the lid and weight.
An overloaded bin or container that cannot be safely lifted may remain unemptied.
  4. Check the contents.
Incorrect recycling or prohibited items can prevent collection.
  5. Check access.
Parked vehicles, roadworks, snow, ice or another obstruction can affect collection vehicles.
  6. Use the official missed-bin route if appropriate.
Follow the council’s current reporting instructions rather than repeatedly submitting a report.

Telford Flats and Apartments Can Use a Different Container Setup

Do not assume a house’s wheelie-bin arrangement applies to every flat. Telford & Wrekin says flats and apartments may use a blue bag and purple bag inside the property and then empty them into larger communal recycling containers.

Use the building’s communal system

Follow the labels on the shared bins and any instructions provided by the landlord, housing association or site office.

Still check the exact address

The Bin Day Finder remains the best starting point for collection-date information associated with the property.

Severe Weather Can Change the Normal Telford Collection Routine

During extreme heat, snow, ice or freezing conditions, the council can change how collections operate. The normal rule is 7am, but during periods of extreme heat the council may ask residents to present containers by 6am.

Red, purple, blue and food waste

During weather disruption, current council guidance may ask residents to leave these containers safely presented for a later recovery collection.

Green garden bin

During prolonged snow or ice disruption, the council may prioritise other waste streams and ask residents to bring the green bin back in until its next scheduled round.

Check live instructions during disruption. Weather guidance can change with operating conditions, so do not rely on a normal-week rule when the council has issued a specific update.

Get a Telford Bin Reminder Before Collection Day

The official Bin Day Finder offers free weekly reminder emails. The reminder is sent before the scheduled collection and tells you which containers need to be presented.

Simple household setup

Best combination: download the property calendar once, then activate reminder emails so you still receive a prompt when the next collection approaches.

Do Not Put Batteries Loose Inside Telford Household Bins

Batteries create a fire risk in waste and recycling vehicles. Telford & Wrekin’s current kerbside guidance says household batteries should be placed separately in a clear container or bag and presented visibly on top of the purple top bin.

Keep batteries separate from light bulbs. The council’s clear-bag guidance says these materials should not be mixed together in the same bag.

No. Flats and apartments can use blue and purple bags together with larger communal rubbish and recycling containers. Follow the arrangement provided for the building.

Check the Address Before Moving Any Bin

For the correct Telford bin collection date, start with the postcode finder rather than a generic weekly timetable. Select the exact property, confirm the container due and have it ready by the correct presentation time.

Save the current 2026/27 calendar and activate reminder emails so bank-holiday and normal collection weeks are easier to manage.
