Hounslow Bin Collection 2026: Dates, Calendar & Bank Holidays

HOUNSLOW • 2026 ADDRESS-FIRST COLLECTION GUIDE

Check Your Hounslow Bin Day, Zone A/B Calendar and Collection Changes

Start with your exact address, then confirm your normal weekday and whether your property follows Zone A or Zone B. That is the safest way to identify the correct black-bin week.

This guide combines the official 2026 PDFs with bank-holiday changes, this week’s schedule, missed-bin rules, recycling boxes, garden waste, flats, bulky collections, Space Waye and practical troubleshooting.

Current Hounslow Collection Alert

Checked 31 July 2026: Hounslow’s current missed-collection guidance warns that some waste and recycling rounds have been affected by vehicle breakdowns.

BIN STILL THERE?

Check the disruption notice first

Your road may already be known to the council, so check the latest service information before filing another report.

NOT LISTED?

Wait until 5pm

Normal collections can continue until 5pm. The missed-collection reporting window does not open before then.

Hounslow Bin Collection Days: The Fastest Reliable Answer

Do not search for one borough-wide collection date. Hounslow bin collection days depend on the exact property, its regular weekday and the Zone A or Zone B fortnightly cycle.

1 • ADDRESS

Search your home

Use Hounslow’s official property lookup.

2 • WEEKDAY

Note Monday–Friday

Your normal weekday tells you which date within the highlighted collection week applies.

3 • ZONE

Confirm A or B

The zones run opposite black-bin and subscribed garden-waste cycles.

4 • HOLIDAY

Check exceptions

Bank holidays can alter the date even when the normal collection week is correct.

Most common mistake

Knowing “Thursday” is not enough. A resident can have the correct weekday but the wrong fortnightly black-bin week.

How to Find Your Exact Hounslow Bin Collection Date

Open the official Hounslow collection finder

Use the council tool rather than an old screenshot, neighbourhood timetable or another household’s routine.

Select the exact property

Flats, houses, new developments and properties close to route boundaries can have different arrangements.

Record your normal collection weekday

The Zone A/B PDFs show collection weeks rather than assigning one weekday to the entire borough.

Identify Zone A or Zone B

Use the property result before downloading a calendar. The wrong zone reverses the fortnightly black-bin pattern.

Check the specific waste stream

Black rubbish is fortnightly; recycling boxes and food waste are weekly; subscribed garden waste normally runs on the alternate week to black rubbish.

Check bank holidays or disruption

Use the official current notice when your date falls in a bank-holiday week or your road has a service problem.

Hounslow Bin Collection This Week: 27–31 July 2026

This current-week snapshot applies to the official 2026 Zone A/B calendars. Use your property’s normal weekday to turn the collection week into your exact date.

ZONE A

Black wheelie-bin week

  • Black rubbish is the fortnightly stream scheduled this week.
  • Put it out on your normal weekday.
  • Red, green and blue recycling remains weekly.
  • Food waste remains weekly.
ZONE B

Garden-waste week for subscribers

  • Subscribed garden waste is the fortnightly stream shown this week.
  • Black rubbish is on the opposite cycle.
  • Weekly recycling boxes continue.
  • Weekly food waste continues.
Next scheduled fortnightly switch

During 3–7 August, Zone B moves to its black-bin week and Zone A moves to the subscribed garden-waste week.

Hounslow Bin Collection Dates 2026 Map: Find Your Zone Without Guessing

Searches for a Hounslow bin collection dates 2026 map usually mean “Which schedule applies to my street?” The official answer is the address and postcode finder—not a borough-wide colour map.

START HERE

Enter the property

Search the exact address in the council collection finder.

THEN

Identify A or B

Match the property to the correct 2026 collection zone.

AVOID

Town-wide assumptions

Do not assume every Chiswick, Feltham, Isleworth or Hounslow Town address belongs to one zone.

A calendar is useful only after the zone is confirmed

Zone A and Zone B alternate. Selecting the wrong PDF can reverse every fortnightly rubbish date.

Hounslow Collection Times and Where to Put Your Bins

Correct timing and placement are important because a container that was late, hidden or inaccessible can be recorded as incorrectly presented rather than missed.

NORMAL

Ready before 7am

Collections can take place between 7am and 5pm.

28°C+

Possible 6am start

Hounslow may begin an hour earlier in hotter weather.

33°C+

Possible 5am start

Extreme heat can trigger an even earlier start to protect crews.

PLACE

Front boundary

Keep containers visible and accessible from the pavement but not actually blocking the pavement.

Close the lid

Keep rubbish contained inside the wheelie bin. Side waste, overfilled containers or incorrect contents can stop the normal collection.

What Goes in Hounslow Bins and Recycling Boxes?

BLACK BIN

Non-recyclable rubbish

  • Soft plastic wrapping not accepted in the red box
  • Polystyrene
  • Glass-jar lids
  • Wrapped nappies and sanitary waste
  • Carefully wrapped broken ceramics or glass
  • No food waste
  • No batteries
  • No garden waste
  • No electricals
  • No building rubble
RED BOX

Plastic and metal cans

  • Accepted rigid plastic packaging
  • Food tins
  • Drink cans
  • Wash and squash items
  • Keep plastic lids attached
  • No carrier bags
  • No crisp packets
  • No bread bags
  • No batteries
GREEN BOX

Glass bottles and jars

Use the green recycling box for glass bottles and jars rather than mixing them with paper or plastic recycling.

BLUE BOX

Paper and cardboard

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Flatten boxes
  • Keep individual cardboard below 70 × 70cm
  • No oversized unflattened cardboard
  • No shredded paper
Why separate boxes matter

Hounslow collects materials separately so they remain cleaner and easier to recycle at the materials handling facility.

Weekly Food Waste Collection

Food waste is collected every week, regardless of whether your fortnightly stream is black rubbish or subscribed garden waste.

INDOORS

7-litre kitchen caddy

Use it to collect food scraps inside the home.

OUTDOORS

25-litre food bin

Transfer food waste into the larger outdoor container for collection.

KEEP OUT

No liquids or oils

Drain excess liquids before placing food in the bin.

Check Hounslow food-waste guidance

Hounslow Missed Bin Collection: Use the Right Route

A genuine council miss and a rejected or incorrectly presented bin are treated differently.

GENUINE MISS

Report between 5pm and 5pm

  • Wait until 5pm on the collection day.
  • Report by 5pm the next working day.
  • Confirm it was actually due.
  • Confirm it was correctly presented.
  • Hounslow says it will return within two working days after an accepted miss.
NOT A MISSED BIN

Presentation problem

  • Not out or not visible
  • Too heavy because of wrong material
  • Overfilled
  • Extra waste beside the bin
  • Contaminated with incorrect items
One-off wheelie-bin collection: £10.20

When the council attempted the collection but could not empty the wheelie bin for one of the presentation reasons above, the current paid one-off service costs £10.20. It must be booked within 24 hours after 5pm on the attempted collection day.

After booking the paid one-off collection

Correct the problem, present the bin properly and leave it available. Hounslow says collection should take place within three working days after the request.

Need Help Moving Bins? Request an Assisted Collection

Residents who need help presenting bins and recycling can request an assisted collection rather than struggling to move containers to the front boundary.

WHO IT HELPS

Residents needing assistance

Use the service when moving bins or boxes to the normal collection point is difficult because of your circumstances.

AGREED POINT

Collection closer to the home

The assisted arrangement records a collection location for crews rather than requiring normal front-boundary presentation.

APPLY

Use the official request

Complete the council’s assisted-bin collection process instead of treating the issue as repeated missed collections.

Request assisted bin collection

Hounslow Garden Waste Collection 2026/27

The garden-waste service runs from 1 April to 31 March and is collected every two weeks, normally on the same weekday as recycling but on the opposite fortnightly cycle to black rubbish.

STANDARD

£75 per year

Current 2026/27 annual subscription.

CTR

£37.50

For eligible residents receiving income-based Council Tax Reduction.

CONTAINER

240L brown bin

Properties unsuitable for a wheelie bin can receive two 90L reusable sacks.

FULL YEAR

A full subscription includes a two-week Christmas/New Year pause.

Before subscribing

  • You must live in the London Borough of Hounslow.
  • The property must be accessible to the collection vehicle and crew.
  • The container must be stored inside the property boundary.
  • Purpose-built flats are eligible only where the garden container can be presented at ground level and accessed.
  • Businesses cannot use the household subscription.

After subscribing

Moving home?

If you move within Hounslow, take the garden bin or sacks with you and notify the council in advance so the subscription can be transferred. Moving out of the borough requires cancellation.

Need More Rubbish Capacity? Larger Black Bin Rules

Most Hounslow homes have a standard 140-litre black wheelie bin. A 240-litre bin or an additional 140-litre bin is assessed rather than automatically issued.

FIRST CHECK

Use all recycling services

Hounslow may check whether recyclable material is unnecessarily taking up black-bin space.

ASSESSMENT

Explain your circumstances

Household size, unavoidable waste and relevant medical or family circumstances can be considered.

EVIDENCE

28-day response window

If the council requests supporting information, provide it within 28 calendar days or the application can be cancelled.

Extra capacity can be reviewed

Hounslow regularly checks whether larger or additional bins are still needed and can return a property to the standard 140L bin when circumstances change.

Broken Bin or Not Enough Recycling Boxes?

BROKEN WHEELIE BIN

Leave it visible

When a replacement is due, leave the damaged bin at the front boundary. If the council cannot see it, the order can be closed.

MORE RECYCLING

Order extra containers

Extra or replacement recycling boxes and food-waste containers can be requested when needed.

DELIVERY

Allow up to 10 working days

New containers may arrive separately from your normal collection vehicle.

Order a replacement or additional container

Hounslow Bin Collections for Flats and Flats Above Shops

Communal flats and flats above shops should not automatically follow the household Zone A/B instructions.

COMMUNAL FLATS

Use labelled communal bins

Hounslow communal stores can have separate containers for plastic, cardboard, paper, glass, tins/cans/aerosols, food and non-recyclable rubbish.

ABOVE SHOPS

Use Hounslow purple sacks

Flats above shops receive a separate rubbish service. Using other bags in the designated area can be treated as fly-tipping.

  • Central Hounslow up to and including Lampton Road
  • Chiswick

  • Hounslow East
TUESDAY + FRIDAY

TEXTILES

Weekly alongside recycling

Put eligible clothes, textiles and shoes in a clearly marked plastic bag beside your recycling boxes.

If the appliance and cable fit in a standard supermarket carrier bag, it can generally use the small-electrical collection.

BATTERIES

Remove them first

Batteries must be removed from electrical items and should not go into normal rubbish or recycling boxes.

COFFEE PODS

Kerbside service ended

Hounslow’s coffee-pod kerbside collection ended on 14 February 2026. Use Space Waye or participating Podback drop-off points.

Vapes are not small-electrical kerbside items

Use an appropriate specialist recycling route rather than putting vapes into the weekly carrier-bag collection.

The safest official route is the address and postcode finder rather than a generic geographic map. Use your property result to identify the correct collection zone, then open the matching PDF.

What time should I put Hounslow bins out?
Normal collections can take place between 7am and 5pm, so containers should be correctly presented before 7am. Hounslow may begin at 6am during forecasts of 28°C or above and 5am when 33°C or above is forecast.

Hounslow’s red, green and blue recycling boxes are normally collected every week.
How often is the black wheelie bin collected?

Not necessarily. Hounslow uses purple sacks for flats above shops and provides separate twice-weekly collection patterns depending on the area.
Do I need to book Space Waye?
During the six-month trial that began on 9 March 2026, ordinary resident car visits do not need a booking Monday to Thursday except bank holidays. Bookings remain required Friday, Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays.
