Rotherham Bin Collection Calendar 2026: Which PDF Do I Need?
The council publishes four official household calendars. “Week 1” versus “Week 2” changes the fortnight in which general waste falls; “A” versus “B” changes the order of the two recycling streams.

The PDFs currently linked as 2026 calendars are visually titled “Collection Schedule for 2025/26” and show normal dates through November 2026. Their festive table covers Christmas 2025/New Year 2026—not Christmas 2026/New Year 2027. Do not reuse those Christmas dates later in 2026.
What the Official 2026 Calendar PDFs Say Before Collection Day
The four PDFs repeat the same presentation rules. These details matter because a correct date does not guarantee collection if the bin is presented incorrectly.
Kerbside by 7am
The PDFs tell residents to have bins at the kerbside by 7am on collection day.
Keep waste inside
The lid should close completely rather than resting on overflowing waste.
Extra bags stay behind
The calendar says additional bags beside the bin will not be collected.
Separate garden calendar
Garden-waste subscribers should use their own brown-bin collection calendar.
The PDFs state there was no collection on 25 or 26 December 2025 or 1 January 2026, so festive dates could be earlier, later or on Saturday.

Rotherham Bin Collection 2026: How the Household Cycle Works
Rotherham separates paper/card from glass, cans and plastics, so households normally rotate between three core bins.

Current Rotherham Council household guidance says ordinary food waste goes in the pink-lid general household waste bin. Fruit and vegetable peelings can also be composted at home.

Food and drink cartons can look like cardboard, but Rotherham specifically directs Tetra Pak/cartons to the black glass/cans/plastics recycling bin rather than green paper/card.
Rotherham’s current A–Z waste service says clothing and textiles are not accepted at kerbside. Take reusable clothes to a charity or use one of the council’s HWRC textile containers. Do not follow older policy material suggesting a kerbside textile bag.
Rotherham Collection-Day Rules: From 7pm the Night Before to 7pm After Collection
The calendar PDFs and council guidance make 7am the key collection deadline. The kerbside policy material also provides a practical presentation window.

Policy guidance uses 7pm on the evening before collection as the earliest normal presentation time.

Use the correct collection point and avoid blocking the pavement.

An overflowing or open-lid bin can be left or only partially emptied.
Bring the bin back in
Policy guidance asks residents to remove containers from the kerbside by 7pm on collection day.
Do not put ordinary rubbish bags beside the pink-lid bin. Extra household waste can be saved for the next collection or taken to an appropriate Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Rotherham warns residents not to compact bin contents tightly because waste can become stuck during mechanical emptying and the container itself can be damaged.
Rotherham Bin Collection Missed: Use This Decision Path
A bin that remains full is not automatically an individual missed collection. First find out whether the council already knows that your street was missed.
Confirm the bin was actually due
Check the official address finder or app and confirm the colour scheduled for that day.
Search your street in the missed-bin directory
If the street is already listed, the council is aware. You do not need to submit another report.
Check whether your bin qualified
It should have been out before 7am, at the kerbside, not blocking the pavement, not overflowing and with the lid closed.
Report promptly when your street is not listed
The live council page says a household-waste or recycling missed bin reported after the next working day will not be collected until its next scheduled round.
Leave an acknowledged missed bin accessible
If the street directory says crews will return, leave the bin out where it is safe to do so.
The council’s online reporting journey has historically opened after crews have had time to complete the day’s round. Use the current form/page instructions shown when you report rather than submitting early.
The council’s kerbside policy appendix states that where records confirm a genuine missed collection, arrangements are made for a return within five working days and the bin must remain accessible. The live missed-bin page should remain your first source for current operational instructions.
Bin Not Emptied? Check the Reason Before Reporting It Missed
New, Replacement and Additional Bins in Rotherham
A standard property should normally have one pink-lid bin, one green paper/card bin and one black recycling bin. Use council-supplied containers because collection crews only empty authorised bins.
Rotherham currently warns that bin delivery can take around 20 working days, compared with the usual 10 working days.

The current council page says a first reported stolen bin is replaced free of charge. New builds and private rented homes with missing containers can require the bins to be purchased.
Who can apply for an additional pink-lid bin?
Five or more permanent residents
Rotherham’s current application page allows households with five or more permanent residents, including children, to apply for additional general-waste capacity.
Extra non-recyclable medical waste
A permanent resident whose medical condition produces additional non-recyclable waste can also qualify. The current page says the additional bin is free where the extra waste is generated by a medical condition.
Authorised additional pink bins require a valid permit sticker to be clearly displayed for collection.
Assisted Bin Collections in Rotherham
If age, disability or a long-term health condition means you cannot move the bins to the normal collection point, Rotherham provides an assisted collection application route.
Explain why help is needed
The online process asks residents to check eligibility and provide information about their circumstances or support needs.

If approved, crews collect the containers from an agreed location at your property.

The council says crews empty the bins and return them to the same agreed location.

Rotherham Bin Collections for Flats, Maisonettes and Shared Bins
Shared-bin properties can have a different setup from ordinary houses. This is one reason a generic postcode result or a neighbour’s calendar may not match.

Collection frequency or arrangement can differ because of storage areas, vehicle access or the nature of the premises.

Brown-bin garden waste is an optional paid service. Rotherham says collections operate all year, normally fortnightly for most of the year and monthly during winter.

The current sign-up page reports longer-than-usual bin supply times.
The council introduced separate goodwill/renewal arrangements following previous disruption. Existing subscribers should use their account/sign-up journey because their effective price can differ from the new-customer rate.
The brown bin must display the correct year’s proof-of-subscription sticker. The council says crews have subscriber records, but the current sticker should still be attached and visible.
Rotherham’s current sign-up information says part-year subscriptions are not offered.
Rotherham Bulky Waste Collection: Current Price and Set-Out Rules
Large items should not be left beside the normal wheelie bin. Rotherham offers a separately booked bulky-waste collection and encourages reuse where an item is still usable.

Vehicle access only
The current site terms say there is no pedestrian access because of vehicle and plant movements.

Small vans, pickups, trailers and certain converted vehicles can require a permit before entry.
Not trade disposal
Sites are for Rotherham residents’ own household waste, not commercial or landlord waste.

Sharps, Needles and Clinical Waste in Rotherham
Medical waste does not all use the pink-lid bin. Separate infectious waste and sharps from ordinary household healthcare waste.
