Tandridge Bin Collection: Check Your Calendar, Schedule & Missed Bin
Tandridge District Council uses address-specific collection dates, so the safest way to find your next rubbish, recycling or garden-waste collection is to enter your postcode in the council’s live “Check my bin day” service.
For most households, recycling and rubbish alternate every other week while food waste continues weekly. Collection-day rules, missed-bin reporting and garden-waste arrangements are explained below.
Tandridge Bin Collection: Quick Answer
Enter your postcode in Tandridge District Council’s official collection checker and select the exact address. The result shows rubbish, recycling and garden-waste dates for that property and is more reliable than trying to calculate future dates manually.
The normal pattern is recycling one week and rubbish the following week. Food waste continues every week. Put council-issued bins or sacks at the edge of your property before 6am on collection day.

How to Check Your Tandridge Bin Collection Day
Tandridge’s collection checker is address-based. Use it whenever you are unsure which bin is due, especially after moving house, a route change or the Christmas and New Year period.
-
Open “Check my bin day”.
Use the live Tandridge District Council service rather than an old screenshot or printed calendar. -
Enter your postcode.
The system searches council address records for properties in the district. -
Select the correct address.
Check the house number or flat carefully before relying on the dates. -
Read each waste stream separately.
The result can show rubbish, recycling, food waste, small electrical/textile services and garden waste where applicable. -
Download the relevant calendar if offered.
Keep the live checker bookmarked so you can verify dates after service changes.
Tandridge Bin Collection Schedule 2026
Tandridge completed a district-wide collection-pattern change in 2025. The standard pattern now has recycling collected one week and rubbish the following week, making the two main collections easier to alternate.
| Waste stream | Typical frequency | Container | Main rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rubbish | Every other week | Black wheelie bin or approved green sacks | Put it at the edge of the property before 6am. |
| Recycling | Every other week | Blue-lidded recycling bin or approved clear sacks | Normally collected in the alternate week to rubbish. |
| Food waste | Weekly | Food-waste caddy | Continues weekly alongside the alternating main-bin schedule. |
| Garden waste | Normally every two weeks | Brown wheeled bin | Separate paid service with its own calendar. |
How Tandridge Recycling Collections Work
Tandridge collects the blue-lidded recycling wheelie bin, or council-approved clear recycling sacks, every other week. Recycling should be clean, dry and placed loose in the container rather than hidden inside black sacks.
Use the council container
Present the blue-lidded recycling bin or approved clear sacks at the edge of the property before 6am.
Some extra material is accepted
Additional recycling can be presented in carrier bags, cardboard boxes or clear sacks where it is safe and visible to the crew.
Cardboard beside the bin
Cut oversized cardboard down, keep it light and place it in a cardboard box or clear bag so crews can handle it safely.
Black Rubbish Bin and Green Sack Rules
The standard rubbish service is one council-issued black wheelie bin every other week. Properties approved for sacks can put out up to five council-issued green sacks per fortnight.
Keep the lid closed
Excess rubbish beside an ordinary black bin is not normally collected. The bin lid needs to close for safe lifting.
One council bin
The normal service collects rubbish from one council-issued bin unless a different arrangement has been approved.
Christmas exception
Tandridge allows an exception for extra bagged rubbish beside the bin on the first rubbish collection after the Christmas bank holiday period.
Weekly Food Waste Collection
Tandridge’s main rubbish and recycling collections alternate, but food waste continues every week. The council states that properties have food-waste collections where this is feasible.
Tandridge Missed Bin: When and How to Report It
If your rubbish, recycling or food waste has genuinely been missed, Tandridge requires the report to be made within two working days of the scheduled collection date.
-
Confirm the date.
Check the official postcode service to make sure the waste stream was actually due. -
Check the presentation time.
The bin or sacks must have been at the correct collection point before 6am, or before 5.30am on Stafford Road in Caterham. -
Leave the container out if the street is delayed.
If collections are running late, the council may ask residents to leave bins available while crews catch up. -
Check access.
Parked cars and restricted road access can stop a collection vehicle reaching a street safely. -
Check the contents.
Incorrect recycling or an unsafe container can prevent collection. -
Report within two working days.
Use the council’s missed-collection process or MyTandridge where the service requires an account.
2026 Tandridge Collection Delays: Check Before Reporting
Tandridge experienced disruption to rubbish, recycling, food and garden-waste services during 2026. In July, the council announced additional measures with Biffa to improve staffing, resilience and recycling-round capacity.
Because individual rounds can still be affected, a full street of unemptied bins may indicate a delayed route rather than a single missed collection. Check the council’s current service-update page before submitting repeated reports.
Tandridge Garden Waste Collection 2026/27
Garden waste is not included with normal rubbish or recycling. Subscribers use a 240-litre brown wheeled bin which is normally collected from the edge of the property every two weeks.
Tandridge District Council now administers the garden-waste service, while collections continue through the waste contractor. Current charges can change, so check the live council garden-waste page before joining, renewing or ordering another bin.
Typical garden material
Grass and hedge clippings, leaves, stems, plants, small branches, twigs, weeds and flowers can be accepted.
Keep soil and rubble out
Soil, mud, stones, rocks and similar heavy materials should not be put in the brown garden-waste bin.
Two-week cycle
Collections normally run fortnightly, with the property’s exact garden-waste dates shown through the council service and calendar.
What If You Have More Waste Than Fits in the Bin?
Extra recycling
Recycling can be placed beside the normal container in suitable carrier bags, cardboard boxes or clear sacks. Do not use black bags.
Extra rubbish
Ordinary rubbish beside a black wheelie bin is not normally collected, so use an appropriate disposal route instead.
Regular recycling overflow
If your recycling bin is frequently full, Tandridge allows residents to request an additional recycling container.
Tandridge Bulky Waste Collection Prices
Tandridge offers a paid collection service for furniture, white goods and other eligible large household items. Prices applying from 1 April 2026 depend on the number of items booked.
| Items | Standard price | Eligible subsidised price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 item | £50 | £25 |
| 2 items | £57 | £29 |
| 3 items | £65 | £32 |
| 4 items | £72 | Not shown for this band |
| 5 items | £80 | Not shown for this band |
Fridges and freezers count as three items. Eligible benefit claimants may qualify for two discounted collections of up to three items each per year.
Items must be in a visible and accessible location at the edge of the property by 7am. The crew does not knock on the door to ask where an item has been left.
Recycling Centres Used by Tandridge Residents
Household recycling centres are managed separately from Tandridge’s kerbside collections. Current council guidance points residents to Caterham, Warlingham and Earlswood community recycling centres, with some southern Tandridge postcodes also able to use East Grinstead subject to that site’s booking rules.
| Centre | Current opening pattern | Closed |
|---|---|---|
| Caterham CRC | 8am–4pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 9am–4pm Saturday and Sunday | Thursday |
| Warlingham CRC | 8am–4pm Thursday and Friday; 9am–4pm Saturday | Sunday to Wednesday |
| Earlswood CRC | 8am–4pm Monday to Friday; 9am–4pm Saturday and Sunday | Check current Surrey guidance |
New, Broken or Stolen Tandridge Bins
Tandridge charges for several rubbish-bin replacement scenarios. Current published charges depend on container size, while some replacements are free when damage was caused by the collection crew or where an approved medical need applies.
| Bin size | Published charge | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 140 litre | £38.50 | Replacement/new bin where charge applies |
| 180 litre | £44.50 | Replacement/new/larger bin where approved |
| 240 litre | £52 | Replacement/new/larger bin where approved |
| 360 litre | £90 | Larger container where approved |
A full standard set for a new-build or self-build house is currently listed at £109 and includes a 240-litre recycling bin, 180-litre rubbish bin, 23-litre outdoor food caddy and 5-litre indoor food caddy.
Assisted Bin Collections
If you cannot physically move your rubbish or recycling containers to the edge of the property and nobody is available to help, Tandridge can assess you for an assisted collection.
Approved crews collect the containers from an agreed point on the property and return them after emptying. The route to the nominated location must remain clear and safe.
Flats and Communal Bins
Residents in flats may use communal bins in a shared bin-store area. The managing agent or property owner is generally responsible for providing and maintaining communal containers.
If communal bins regularly overflow or additional capacity is needed, contact the managing agent first. Properties without communal containers may use the council’s normal bin or approved sack arrangements.
Bank Holidays and Christmas Collections
Ordinary recycling and rubbish collections do not normally change for bank holidays. The main exceptions are Christmas Day, Boxing Day and, in some years, collection changes around New Year’s Day.
Garden-waste collections also normally continue through ordinary bank holidays but have a two-week Christmas suspension.
Does Simpler Recycling Change Tandridge Collections in 2026?
England’s Simpler Recycling requirements apply from 2026, but Tandridge already provides separate residual waste, recycling and food-waste streams at properties where food-waste collection is feasible.
Residents should therefore follow Tandridge’s current bin instructions rather than assuming a national reform automatically changes their bin colour, collection weekday or container arrangement.

Check Your Postcode Before Putting the Bin Out
Tandridge’s normal pattern is easy to remember: recycling one week, rubbish the next and food waste every week. Your exact collection date still depends on the property.
Use the live postcode checker, put the correct container at the edge of the property before 6am and check current service updates if the whole street appears to have been missed.
