Flintshire’s current missed-bin page says collection services are experiencing delays and, because of a technical issue, missed collections need to be reported from the following day.
- Leave an already reported eligible container at the kerbside.
- Do not send repeat reports during the three-working-day return period.
- Reports still unresolved after three working days are automatically escalated.
- Track progress through MyAccount where available.
Current appliance collections are delayed
Flintshire says fridge and freezer collections are affected by UK-wide processing issues. Booked appliances should remain safely presented at the agreed collection point.

Flintshire bin collection dates are property-specific. A neighbour’s routine, old PDF or town-wide list cannot safely tell you whether recycling, food, black-bin or subscribed garden waste is due.

Brown-bin collections are displayed only for paid subscribers. After subscribing, allow up to 14 days for the property to be routed and added to the collection finder.
Non-recyclable waste moved from fortnightly to three-weekly collection from 28 April 2025, and routine Saturday recycling and black-bin collections ended.

The council’s collection-change leaflet says a large share of material historically placed in black bins could instead be recycled through weekly kerbside services or Household Recycling Centres.
Flintshire Bin Collection Times and Set-Out Rules
Flintshire does not promise an exact lorry arrival time. The reliable rule is to present every due container correctly before 7am.
Ready before the deadline
Bins, recycling bags, boxes and food caddies must be at the collection point by 7am.
Allowed when safe
You may place containers out the evening before, but avoid this in high winds.
Allow the full day
The standard policy classifies an eligible wheeled bin or food caddy as missed only if still uncollected after 5pm.
Bring containers back
Return emptied containers inside the property boundary on collection day.
Where containers should be placed
The official policy advises against leaving containers out the previous evening during high winds. Put them out in the morning and bring them back promptly to reduce litter and lost containers.

Flintshire says collections normally continue on bank holidays. Christmas Day and Boxing Day are the stated exceptions, and wider festive changes are published through the live calendar.

Use Flintshire-supplied compostable liners. If you temporarily run out, use newspaper. Ordinary plastic bags and non-Flintshire biobags can contaminate the collection.
Flintshire Bin Collection Missed: Exact Reporting Process
A genuine missed collection means the correct eligible container was at the correct point before 7am, remained uncollected after the normal service window and was not rejected for another reason.
Confirm the date and waste stream
Use the official address calendar. A changed three-week black-bin cycle is not a missed collection.
Look for a tag, sticker or recorded rejection
Wrong contents, an open lid, excess waste or a heavy/jammed bin must be corrected before the next scheduled collection.
Apply the current reporting instruction
The permanent policy normally allows reports after 5pm. The live page currently asks residents to report from the next day because of a technical issue.
Submit one official report
Give the correct address and container type. Duplicate reports are unnecessary during the published return period.
Leave eligible containers available
Keep a reported black bin, brown bin, food caddy or registered AHP container at the collection point while the crew returns.

The three-working-day calculation starts on Monday because weekends are not counted as working days.
The current council page says the report is automatically escalated to a supervisor. There is no need to submit another report during that period.
Why Was My Flintshire Bin Not Emptied?
A container left behind is not automatically missed. Check the problem and fix it before using the report form.
Flintshire Side Waste Enforcement: Extra Bags and Open Lids
Extra non-recyclable waste beside, on top of or outside the black bin is classed as excess waste. Presenting more than one black bin also counts as excess waste.
Advice, sticker and letter
The first stage focuses on education. The council’s policy says the excess waste is taken on that occasion and the household receives advice on recycling and waste reduction.
Formal Section 46 notice
If excess waste continues, a formal notice can be issued. The excess waste is then left for the resident to separate and manage.
£75 fixed penalty or prosecution
Continued breaches after the earlier stages can lead to a £75 fixed penalty per instance, payable within 28 days, with possible prosecution if unpaid.
The policy says the council will not return for excess waste reported as missed after a Stage 2 or Stage 3 event. Additional unauthorised black bins can be removed without notice.

The official household policy sets container sizes and limits so residents know whether to request more recycling capacity or apply for a larger black bin.

Standard household limit
Only one council-authorised black bin is supplied and routinely collected per property.
Apply for a 240-litre bin
Households with six or more permanent occupants can request assessment for a larger black bin. Eligibility is reviewed annually.
Request as many containers as needed
Multiple recycling containers can be presented to accommodate normal weekly household recycling.
Council-supplied bins, bags, boxes and caddies should normally remain at the property for the next resident. Purchased additional brown bins are the stated exception.
Assisted Collections, Private Roads, Flats and Difficult Access
Residents should not struggle with an unsafe collection point. Flintshire can assess assisted collections and agree alternative arrangements for difficult properties.
Temporary or long-term help
Assistance is for a resident who cannot physically present the containers because of disability, illness, surgery or a long-term condition and has nobody else able to help.
Crew collects and returns containers
A safe location is agreed following assessment. The crew collects from that point and returns the containers after emptying.
Unsafe access can stop the service
Gates, pets, damaged paths, steps or other hazards must not create a risk. The council can withdraw assistance where collection is unsafe.
Adopted-highway collection point
If a private or unadopted road is unsuitable for the vehicle, residents may need to bring containers to the point where the road meets the adopted highway. The arrangement should be agreed in writing.
An assisted household on a private road may receive a separate risk assessment, smaller vehicle or different collection day.
Formalised communal point
Flats, terraces and narrow-access properties can have a site-specific point or communal containers. Mark individual containers with the property number or name where required.
Do not permanently store containers at a formalised public collection point.
The current council page says assisted arrangements will be reviewed after 12 months. Residents who still need help must confirm or reapply; otherwise three weeks’ notice may be given before the service ends.
Collection crews do not enter the home and do not sort recycling items for the resident.
Flintshire Garden Waste Collection 2026
The 2026/27 garden-waste service is paid, address-linked and sticker-controlled. Only subscribed brown bins displaying the current yellow sticker are eligible.
£38 per subscribed bin
The full annual price applies regardless of the date payment is made.
Starts 2 March
Fortnightly collections run from March through 30 November 2026.
Monthly collections
The service includes monthly rounds in December 2026, January 2027 and February 2027.
Up to three brown bins
Each extra bin costs £30 to supply, and each bin must be separately paid for and stickered to be emptied.

Remove the incorrect material before the next collection. Repeated contamination can lead to the garden-waste service being stopped.
Put the bin at the boundary by 7am with the lid closed. No side waste is collected. The terms do not provide full or partial refunds for missed rounds or periods when collection is not possible.
Cancellation must be requested in writing within 14 days; telephone cancellations are not accepted. A subscription can be transferred to another Flintshire address, but moving outside the county does not create a refund.
Nappies, AHP, Clinical Waste and Sharps Collections
These free registered services keep hygiene and medical waste out of ordinary black bins and recycling containers.
Weekly orange-container service
- For nappies and approved incontinence products.
- The collection day may differ from normal household bins.
- The container may be just inside the property boundary if visible and accessible.
- Registration normally lasts up to two years before reapplication.
- Repeated non-presentation can remove the property from the schedule.
Agreed container and schedule
- Suitable bags or containers are supplied.
- The collection point, day and frequency are agreed with the resident.
- Examples include dressings, bandages, stoma bags and catheters.
- Three consecutive collections with no waste can end the service unless otherwise agreed.
Call for each collection
- Secure needles and syringes in a standard yellow sharps box.
- Never place sharps in a black bin or recycling container.
- Yellow containers are available from a surgery, clinic or hospital.
- Give the council at least seven days’ notice when requesting collection.
Flintshire Bulky Waste, Furniture and Appliance Collections
Reuse a working item first. If reuse is not possible and you cannot transport it to a recycling centre, Flintshire offers booked household collections.

Count and list every item
Only items recorded in the booking are collected. Do not substitute or add unbooked material.
Wait for the confirmed collection details
The council aims to contact residents within five working days to confirm the date, time and collection point.
Do not put items out too early
Place them outside only from the agreed collection time, within the property boundary and away from the pavement or road.
Protect soft furnishings
Cover sofas, mattresses and upholstered items. Excessively wet items may be refused.
Kitchen or bathroom removal waste, fitted wardrobes, soil, rubble and landscaping material are excluded. Contractors should arrange lawful disposal of waste produced by their work.

Five checks before leaving home
No unsorted black bags
Since 1 April 2025, unsorted waste is not accepted. Black bags must be opened so recyclable items can be removed.
Check whether a permit is needed
Most cars do not need a permit. Vans, pickups, trailers and larger vehicles may require one or may be restricted.
Some items need advance booking
Mattresses and specified non-household or DIY-type materials use a booking and charging system.

All five HRCs are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Emergency or weather closures may also occur.
