Bracknell Forest Bin Collection Days: Find Your Calendar & Correct Bin

Your Bracknell Forest bin collection date depends on your property and collection schedule. The quickest route is to open the council’s collection-day finder, select the exact address, then check the green, blue, food and subscribed brown-bin dates separately.

The main household rhythm is easy to remember: green general waste every 3 weeks, blue recycling every 2 weeks and food waste every week. Brown garden waste is normally every 2 weeks for households with a paid subscription.

Bracknell Forest Bin Collection: Quick Answer

Do not choose a collection date from a general timetable until you know your property’s schedule. Use Bracknell Forest Council’s live collection-day finder first. It shows your next collections and includes brown garden-waste dates when the address has an active subscription.

Put the scheduled bin or food caddy at the normal collection point by 6am. The council recommends putting it out the night before.

How to Find Your Bracknell Forest Bin Collection Day

The live property finder is the safest way to answer “what bin is collected this week?” because Bracknell Forest uses several collection schedules. Do not guess a schedule from a neighbour’s dates.

  1. Open the council’s collection-day page.
Use the official Bracknell Forest Council service.
  2. Start the collection finder.
Search for the property and select the exact household.
  3. Read each waste stream separately.
Note the next green general-waste, blue recycling and food-waste dates.
  4. Check brown only if subscribed.
Garden-waste dates appear in the finder for properties with an active garden-waste service.
  5. Put the correct container out by 6am.
Putting it at the collection point the night before helps avoid a late presentation.
Useful reminder: save each collection as “Blue recycling — date” or “Green general waste — date” rather than creating one repeating “bin day” reminder.

Bracknell Forest Bin Collection Calendar and Schedules 1–6

Bracknell Forest publishes six collection schedules for longer-range planning. Use the address finder first if you do not know which schedule applies to your property.

Garden-waste exception: if your brown-bin collection is on a different day from your recycling collection, the standard schedule page may not apply to that brown collection. Use the live collection finder instead.

Bracknell Forest also places a collection-schedule hanger on green bins each year in October, but the live finder remains the better option when you need the next exact date.

How Often Are Bins Collected in Bracknell Forest?

Food caddy Food waste Every week Remove packaging before putting food in the caddy.
Brown bin Garden waste Every 2 weeks This is a paid subscription service.

Which Bin Should You Use in Bracknell Forest?

Green

General waste

Use the green bin for household rubbish that cannot be recycled, composted or collected through another service.

Blue

Recycling

Use the blue bin for accepted paper, card, cans, foil, cartons and suitable plastic containers.

Food

Food caddy

Use the food caddy for accepted raw and cooked food waste without packaging.

Brown

Garden waste

Use a subscribed brown bin for accepted grass, hedge cuttings, leaves, plants and small branches.

What Goes in the Blue Recycling Bin?

Common accepted recycling

  • Paper and card
  • Cardboard
  • Empty aerosols
  • Cans and tins
  • Clean foil
  • Plastic bottles
  • Plastic pots, tubs and trays
  • Cartons

Keep these out

  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Polystyrene
  • Textiles
  • Tissues
  • Loose household batteries
  • Black plastic

Bracknell Forest asks residents to rinse and squash suitable plastic bottles, foil and cartons. Extra cardboard can be left beside the blue bin if it is dry, flattened, manageable and small enough to fit inside the bin after it has been emptied.

Batteries: accepted household batteries can be placed inside a clear plastic bag on top of the blue recycling bin on collection day. Do not put loose batteries inside the bin.
Black plastic: current council guidance says black plastic is not accepted through the blue-bin recycling stream and should go in the green general-waste bin.

Weekly Food-Waste Collection

Food waste is collected every week. Use the indoor caddy for day-to-day food scraps and transfer the contents to the larger outdoor caddy for collection.

Food you can recycle

  • Raw and cooked meat
  • Fish and bones
  • Cheese and yoghurt
  • Eggs and eggshells
  • Fruit and vegetables

Keep out of the caddy

  • Food packaging
  • Cutlery
  • Disposable plates and cups
  • Garden waste
  • Pet waste
  • Milk and other loose liquids

Cooking oil is an exception to the general liquid rule: Bracknell Forest says it can be sealed inside a plastic bottle and placed in the outdoor food caddy.

Glass Recycling in 2026 and the New March 2027 Service

Glass bottles and jars should not go into the Bracknell Forest blue recycling bin during 2026. Residents should use a current bottle bank or an appropriate recycling centre until the new household glass service starts.

Start date

Bracknell Forest Council says the new kerbside glass service will begin in March 2027.

Houses

Houses are due to receive a 140-litre glass wheelie bin, normally emptied every 4 weeks.

Flats

Flats are due to receive communal glass bins of up to 360 litres, normally emptied every 2 weeks.

For houses, the council says the glass bin is planned to be emptied on the working day after the household’s usual collection. Bin deliveries are scheduled between 11 January and 19 February 2027.

Missed Bracknell Forest Bin: Reporting Deadlines Matter

Before reporting a bin as missed, confirm it was actually scheduled and check whether it was presented correctly. Bracknell Forest checks the collection record before deciding whether a return collection is due.

Food caddy

Report a missed food-waste collection by 5pm on the day after the scheduled collection.

Green, blue or brown

Other missed wheelie-bin collections can be reported up to 3 days after the collection day.

Valid missed collection

If the council record shows no reason for the miss, it says a collection will be arranged within 2 working days.

Check these before reporting

  1. Was the correct bin due?
Check the live property finder rather than relying on memory.
  2. Was it out before 6am?
A bin put out later may have been presented after the collection vehicle passed.
  3. Was it at the normal collection point?
The crew needs the container to be visible and accessible.
  4. Was the bin contaminated?
Wrong items can cause a bin to be left.
  5. Was it too heavy?
Bracknell Forest states that bins over 75kg cannot be lifted by its collection vehicles.
  6. For brown bins, is the subscription active?
Garden waste is only collected where the paid service is active.
Additional collection: if the free missed-bin route does not apply, a separate additional collection service may be available. The current published charge is £37.

Cannot Move the Bin to the Collection Point?

Bracknell Forest offers assisted collections for residents who have difficulty moving their bins. The crew can collect from the doorstep or another agreed location and return the bins after emptying.

Eligibility point: if another person living at the property can move the bins, the household will not normally qualify for an assisted collection.

New applicants can use the council’s online application. The council then contacts the resident to confirm the arrangement.

Sofas, Mattresses and Other Bulky Household Items

Large household items need a separate disposal route. Bracknell Forest operates a paid bulky-item collection service for accepted furniture, mattresses, carpets and household electrical items.

Booking size Standard fee Reduced fee
Up to 3 items £59 £29.50
4 to 7 items £75 £37.50

Charges are based on individual items rather than sets. A bed base, mattress and headboard therefore count as three separate items.

  • Leave booked items at the edge of the property.
  • Make sure they are visible and accessible.
  • Put them out no later than 6am on collection day.
  • Do not expect the crew to enter the property or back garden.
  • Changes cannot be made after 3pm on the day before collection.

Start With Your Exact Property Calendar

Bracknell Forest’s 3-week green, 2-week blue and weekly food-waste rhythm helps you understand the system, but the exact collection date still comes from the property finder.

Check the property first, record each waste stream separately and make sure the correct container is ready by 6am. If a collection is then missed, use the appropriate reporting deadline rather than waiting until the following week.
