Bromley Bin Collection 2026: Find Your Date, Week & Correct Containers
Bromley household collections work best when you check them in this order: postcode, exact address, Week 1 or Week 2, then the Green Week or White Week shown on the current calendar. Food waste is collected every week.
This guide also explains the 7am presentation rule, missed-collection deadline, recycling boxes, garden-waste costs, bulky collections and the current recycling-centre arrangements while Waldo Road remains temporarily closed.
Bromley Bin Collection: 30-Second Answer
Open Bromley Council’s WasteWorks service, enter the full postcode and select the exact property. Record the normal collection day and whether the address is Week 1 or Week 2, then use the matching current calendar to see whether it is Green Week or White Week.
Household waste and recycling must be correctly contained and placed at the edge of the property, within arm’s reach of the pavement but not directly on it, by 7am. Food waste is collected every week. If a due collection remains uncollected, leave it available until the end of the collection day and report a genuine miss within two working days.

How to Check Your Exact Bromley Bin Collection Date
WasteWorks is the most direct address-level route. It can show collection information and also routes residents to missed collections, container requests, garden-waste subscriptions and bulky-waste bookings.
-
Open Bromley WasteWorks.
Use the official service rather than a screenshot or an old saved calendar. -
Enter the full postcode.
Include the postcode for the actual property whose collection you need. -
Select the exact address.
Choose the correct house, flat or named building rather than assuming a neighbouring property has the same arrangement. -
Record the normal collection day.
Save the weekday together with the property’s Week 1 or Week 2 assignment. -
Open the matching current calendar.
Use only the Week 1 or Week 2 PDF that applies to the address.
Bromley 2026 Week 1 and Week 2 Collection Calendars
Bromley Council’s currently published house calendars cover 1 August to 30 November 2026. Separate Week 1 and Week 2 PDFs show what should be presented each week, while the collection-days information identifies which weekday and week applies to an address.
Identify your assigned week
Do not choose a PDF merely because the dates look familiar. Confirm whether the property is Week 1 or Week 2 first.
Use the August–November file
Older April–July 2026 calendars are now historical. Use the current file for September, October and November collections.
Replace it when Bromley updates it
Do not use the November-ending calendar to guess December dates. Check for the next published calendar when the date range changes.
What Green Week and White Week Mean in Bromley
Bromley’s house calendar alternates the main collection streams. Food waste is collected every week, while the other household recycling and refuse streams alternate.
| Calendar week | Put out | Main purpose | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green Week | Green recycling box + food waste | Accepted bottles, cans, jars, cartons and rigid plastic containers | Soft plastic bags and film do not belong in the green box. |
| White Week | Black paper box + non-recyclable refuse + food waste | Paper/card plus ordinary non-recyclable household rubbish | Do not put electrical items or batteries in refuse sacks. |
| Every week | Food-waste container | Separate food scraps and leftovers | Do not substitute a black rubbish bag for the food container. |
What Goes in Bromley’s Green Box, Black Box, Food Container and Refuse
Bottles, cans & containers
Accepted items include metal cans and tins, aerosols, clean foil, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays and drink cartons.
Paper & cardboard
Use for newspapers, magazines, letters, envelopes, catalogues and flattened cardboard.
Weekly food waste
Fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, bones, cooked food, bread, rice, pasta, tea bags, coffee grounds, dairy and eggshells are accepted.
Non-recyclable waste
Use standard refuse sacks or equivalent for non-recyclable household waste that fits easily into a normal dustbin.
Black-box cardboard rule
Cardboard should be flattened or cut down to fit the black box. If there is a little too much, Bromley allows a neat, manageable bundle of around 2ft × 3ft beside the box. Large unflattened volumes can be left behind.
Soft plastics
Batteries and small electricals
Do not hide batteries or small electrical items inside ordinary refuse. Bromley provides separate collection arrangements for certain small electricals, batteries and textiles, so use the current council instructions for presentation.
The Bromley 7am Collection-Day Checklist
Ready by 7am
Have the scheduled recycling and waste presented before the collection round begins.
At the edge of the property
Place it within arm’s reach of the pavement at the property boundary.
Not on the public pavement
Bromley specifically tells residents not to place containers directly on the pavement.
Keep access clear
A locked gate, parked vehicle or hidden collection point can prevent the crew reaching the waste.
Bromley Missed Collection: When to Report and When to Wait
Different waste streams can be collected at different times on the same day. Do not assume a collection has been missed simply because one vehicle has already visited the road.
-
Confirm the collection was due.
Check the property, Week 1 or Week 2 and Green / White Week before reporting anything. -
Check the 7am rule.
If the waste was not correctly presented at the property edge by 7am, Bromley says a missed collection cannot normally be reported. -
Check access and containment.
Make sure the material was securely contained and not hidden behind a locked gate or obstruction. -
Leave it available until collection day ends.
Bromley’s current house calendar tells residents to leave due recycling and waste out until 5pm before treating it as missed. -
Check known collection delays.
Weather, vehicle problems, roadworks or other incidents can delay an entire route. -
Report within two working days.
If there is no known delay and presentation was correct, use the official missed-collection route promptly.
Flats, Communal Collections and Flats Above Shops
Bromley’s Week 1 / Week 2 house calendars should not automatically be applied to flats. Communal properties can have different storage and collection arrangements, so use the address-level result and building-specific instructions.
Communal blocks
Use the containers and collection arrangement provided for the building rather than copying the box-and-sack system used by nearby houses.
Flats above shops
Bromley currently provides weekly refuse collections for flats above shops and certain homes without outside storage, but does not provide a recycling collection through that specific service.

If you cannot move your recycling and waste to the normal collection point or need assistance with collections, Bromley directs residents to its recycling and waste service on 0300 303 8658.
Bromley Garden Waste: £80 Wheelie Bin or £3.10 Sack Sticker
Garden waste is not part of the normal black-box, green-box or refuse collection. Bromley offers a paid 240-litre wheelie-bin subscription and a separate sack-sticker collection option.
240-litre garden-waste bin
Collections are every other week from March to November and once a month during the remaining three months.
A new subscriber’s bin is normally delivered in approximately two weeks.
Garden-waste sack service
Buy a non-refundable sticker, attach it to a standard-size refuse sack, book the collection and keep the sack light enough to lift safely.
Bromley states that booked sacks should be visible at the front edge of the property by 7am.

The current minimum for Bromley’s household bulky-waste collection is £43. The final cost depends on the items booked.
Benefit concession
Residents receiving Universal Credit or Housing Benefit can qualify for one free collection worth up to £43 within a 12-month period, with proof of eligibility.
Collection timing
After payment, the contractor contacts you to agree a date. Bromley states the collection will be arranged within 10 working days.
Collection-day rules for bulky items
- Make booked items available from 7am.
- Leave them in an accessible position at the front of the property.
- Do not place them on the public highway.
- Keep your booking reference and payment reference if paying by card.
- Changes or cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice may not qualify for a refund.

The council currently permits up to four such single visits per household in a four-week period; excess amounts or visits can incur charges.
Bank Holidays and Upcoming Collection Changes
The August 2026 bank-holiday delay has already ended, and Bromley says normal collections resumed in the week beginning 7 September 2026. Do not carry that August pattern forward into later holidays.
