The trial includes selected households in Wetherby, Collingham, Boston Spa, Thorp Arch, Clifford, Bramham and Walton.
How selected homes use it
Participating homes receive a kitchen caddy and instructions. Food is transferred from the caddy into the brown bin with garden waste.

The trial brown-bin collection runs fortnightly throughout the year for participating households.

Do not start putting food into a normal brown garden bin unless Leeds has specifically told your household that it is in the trial.
2026 misinformation check: Leeds has publicly said it is keeping the current three-bin approach. The food-waste trial uses the existing brown-bin system rather than introducing a new fourth citywide container.
